  1. 32-bit addressing appeared in the Macintosh operating system version 7 (only 24 bits were used in former versions). Not all Macintoshes support 32-bit addressing (ROM are compatible only from Mac IIci, unless Mode32 extension is used). By the same token, not all applications are 32-bit compatible.
